Rifle Options

Choice of barrel length and contours at no additional cost

These configurations apply to any CTR-02 rifle or upper assemby or, JP-15 rifle or upper assembly.

  1. 18" Ultra light, stripped rifle weights a little over 6 lb. Still gives sub MOA accuracy with match ammo. Ideal for applications where lightest possible weight and fast handling are priorities. Twist: 1:9
  2. 18" Intermediate weight, stripped rifle weight a bit over 7 lb. A very good compromise between ease of handling and stability. Twist: 1:8
  3. 20" Intermediate weight, stripped rifle weight is about 7.5 lb. An outstanding overall compromise between handling, field carry considerations and stability. Yields outstanding long-range accuracy and peak velocity potential. Twist: 1:9 or 1:8.
  4. 24" Heavy varmint with recoil eliminator, rifle weighs 10 - 12 lb. Maximum stability in a bench or prone rifle that will not be carried much. Twist: 1:9.
  5. 16" JPM4 military style barrel, Chrome Moly, 5.56 NATO chamber, 1/2x28 TPI muzzle. Twist: 1:7 or 1:9.

Standard barrel finish is polished stainless. Optional non-glare satin tactical finish (TacFin) or Black Teflon coating also available.

About rate of twist:

We offer two options:

  1. 1:9 Twist offers outstanding accuracy with everything from 40gr (grain) HP (hollow point) to the 69gr HPBT (hollow point boat tail) match type bullets and is the best compromise for most shooters.
  2. 1:8 Twist barrels are biased for the heavier bullets in the longer barrels to maximize velocity.

Accuracy is great with 55gr and heavier projectiles. If you want to use projectiles over 70gr such as the Hornady 75 A-Max or match, or the Sierra 77 or 80gr HPBT match, the 8-twist is mandatory. We feel that the best tactical long-range setup is the 8-twist barrel and the Sierra 77grain BTHP (boat tail hollow point), magazine feedable, for outstanding long range accuracy and energy delivery (about 500 foot-pounds @ 500 yards, just about double the energy delivery of 50-55gr stand loads). Our chambers are throated for maximum accuracy with the 69 or 77gr Sierra BTHP projectiles loaded to 2.260 OAL for magazine feedable rounds.
