CTR-02™ Rifle and Upper Assemblies

The CTR-02™ design represents the culmination of years of experience on the part of the JP design team and the input of many experienced shooters. I can honestly say that there is no other competing rifle remotely like it in terms of quality, features or performance, regardless of price. Ask any of the pro-level shooters on the JP team. The new CTR-02™ has brought their performance up to a new level.

It starts out with our completely machined, matched upper/lower receiver sets. These parts are derived from 7075 T6 aircraft-grade aluminum. Tolerances and exterior metal finishing are absolutely the benchmark of the industry. The upper receiver not only has the standard low rail for compatibility with any properly designed sighting accessory, but also the new Integral ACOG Interface™, another JP innovation. The Trijicon Advanced Combat Optical Gun sight with the JP custom reticle is without a doubt the best optical sight of its type and by far the most popular sight used at most action/tactical matches. The military versions have been used by most US Special Forces with great success for years. The Integral ACOG Interface™, allows for a direct interface without any adapters to the upper receiver resulting in a semi-dedicated system that provides improved ergonomics and instantaneous sight acquisition when mounting the rifle. The CTR-02™ upper receiver also features another new JP design feature, the Thermo-fit™ barrel mounting system, which results in the most stable relationship between barrel and upper receiver yet achieved in this type of rifle yielding reproducible accuracy in the sub-half-MOA range with match-grade ammo. We have achieved test groups as small as .172" at 100 yards with CTR-02™ rifles. Accuracy in the ¼ MOA range is possible for those with the skill and the patience to do the work.

The new CTR-02™ lower receiver is equally innovative. Its slab-sided construction results in greater structural integrity and striking visual appeal, and it is the first lower receiver with a large integral magazine funnel for easy speed loading.

Operating System

The CTR-02™ is available with two different operating systems depending on the intended use. First, the JP Tactical Operating System (TOS™) with 416 stainless carrier is the setup to use when absolute reliability is required, such as police tactical duty. Second, there's the JP Low Mass Operating System (LMOS™) for cutting edge competition performance with minimum recoil impulse due to reciprocating mass inertial effect. The combination of JP Recoil Eliminators, adjustable gas system and LMOS™ yield a nearly recoilless rifle with instant sight recovery. Again, this technology is not available on any other competing rifle.

Trigger Setup

Naturally, all CTR-02™ custom rifles come with the complete JP Fire Control System, set to your preference: 3-lb. recreational/competition setup or 4-lb. tactical setup. The JP single-stage fire control system, as installed by JP, has become the standard by which all others are judged.

Compensator

You may opt for either the original JP Recoil Eliminator, still the softest rifle compensator on the market, or the JP Tactical Compensator, designed to be the most effective tactical rifle compensator to fit into the 1"x3" dimensional criteria for tactical match or USPSA limited rules.

Hand Guard

The JP/Viking Tactics Modular Hand Guard System completes the functionality of the rifle with its floating studs for variable bipod positioning, tactical sling capability and tactical rail adapters for the accessories you want to use.

Cosmetic Finish

Several options for finishing are offered. The standard finish will be satin black hard coat for an impressive business-like appearance and high durability. As an upgrade, we offer the rugged DuraCoat finish in OD Green or Titanium Gray on the upper receiver and hand guard. With the lower in matte black, this two-tone finish really stands out. If you want the lower also finished in matching DuraCoat, that is another option.

For a real piece of art, we offer a Presentation Grade finish with hand detailing and cosmetic matching of the upper and lower receiver. All the raised flat surfaces are straight-lined to a #800 fine finish and lower areas are satin glass bead blasted for a striking two-tone appearance. The lowers are black hard coat for tolerance- and performance-related considerations.

What's important to remember about the CTR-02™ is that this rifle is conceived, designed and built by people who actually shoot and understand the bottom line. It's more than the sum of its parts. It is a complete integrated, purpose-built system that will place no limitations on your ability whether you are a novice or seasoned professional. Unlike other custom shops, our delivery time is usually on the order of 4 to 12 weeks as opposed to months or years. We accomplish this by offering a menu of proven performance configurations optimized for certain applications rather than an endless list of custom options. CTR-02™ complete rifles are shipped in a collector’s quality box with striking graphics and a custom cut high-density foam insert which can hold the rifle with or without optics mounted and accessories. Also included is a nice accessory pack including one 10-round mil-spec magazine, a lube kit with barrel break-in compound, chamber brush, Johnson safety block, JP tech manual, JP hat and a copy of the DVD GasGunBasics. We don’t sell to distributors like other manufacturers, so we don’t have two more levels of profit built into our prices. Our pricing is “factory direct” to give you the best value for the dollar. That’s why our rifles have so many more features, higher performance and amazing cosmetic detail when compared to other rifles of similar or greater price.
