Complete JP Fire Control System

 

You’ve probably seen various attempts at trigger jobs onto M15 type rifles using screws through the receiver or welded on the trigger itself. Various levels of success have been achieved through the modification of stock parts. For years, the common wisdom dictated that only 2 stage triggers were a viable solution for the M15 rifle.

Our friends at J&S Custom Guns in Lakeville, MN were doing a trigger modification using over travel and engagement settings on stock triggers for some time. This achieved a respectable result in some cases but long term durability was not always predictable. They agreed to have us perfect this concept by designing a completely custom trigger mechanism.

The sear geometry and metallurgy of the stock parts usually results in losing the sear edge and a trigger that doubles after a few hundred rounds. The JP single stage trigger is metallurgically correct and features engagement and over travel adjustments in combination with completely re-engineered precision ground sear geometry, eliminating most of the hammer camming effect so prevalent with the original parts. Disconnector timing is correct thereby eliminating the fire on release or “doubling” problem, when properly installed. The extremely short reset of the hammer ensures a durable relationship between the parts.

The complete absence of take up and over-travel, and incredibly short reset, makes this fire control system the best possible compromise between precision and speed for action or tactical rifle competition. Again, this system is the choice of many professional shooters—Bennie Cooley, Jerry Michelek, Bruce Piatt, Tony Holmes, Don Bednorz, Taran Butler, Kyle Lamb, Tom Carpenter, Don Golembesky and many other pro level shooters use rifles equipped with a JP Fire Control System. Many well-known custom gunsmiths recommend JP components. Three other major manufacturers of these rifles use JP components in their fire control groups. What more can we say?

The JP trigger system is compatible with your original hammer if it has not been altered. However, you may wish to add our high quality JP Speed Hammer for vastly reduced lock time for an even more refined system.

The basic kit includes the trigger, disconnector, special spring set and six pages of detailed instructions supplemented with a 35 minute video on CDROM showing how to install, set up, and test the system. If you have a good mechanical aptitude and some basic tools, you can install it yourself.

If you do not feel mechanically inclined or just don’t have the time, send us your lower receiver assembly, and we will install the system for you and turn it around in only one week at a nominal fee. No need to wait for months for some other trigger system that will not feel as refined as the JP system and cost considerably more.

We offer four different spring set ups. When ordering direct, you may specify
any of the following. JPFC kits purchased from other sources will have the
3-3.5 pound springs only.

1. 3-3.5 pound trigger pull for competition/recreational use. Kit includes yellow color coded trigger and hammer spring..
2. 3.5-4.0 pound trigger pull for enhanced reliability and provides good ignition reliablity with any ammo. The red hammer spring with yellow trigger spring is the minimum required for a 308 AR-10 set up.
3. 4-4.5 pound for police duty, military or any application in which 100% ignition reliability is demanded with low sensitivity primers or a heavier release is demanded by LE department requirements. May also be used for 308 AR-10 set ups. Kit includes grey hammer spring with yellow trigger spring.

JP Speed Hammer

The JP Speed Hammer is the perfect compliment for our trigger system. This low mass hammer gives a 50% reduction in lock time for improved accuracy and ignition reliability. Hammer fired ignition systems are notorious for slow lock time and the torque effect of the hammer accelerating through its arc is transmitted through the whole rifle. Try dry firing your rifle as you look at a 100 yard target and see how far the scope moves off point of aim. The JP Speed Hammer minimizes the effect for a significant improvement in accuracy potential. This hammer is so fast you can hear the difference when you dry fire. It's as close as you can come to the lock time and torque free function of a linear striker system in this type of mechanism.

The JP Speed Hammer is not compatible with standard M15 trigger parts. The new design in made from laser cut cryogenically treated A2 tool steel, hardened to 58 Rockwell all the way through, not just on the surface like
conventional hammers. It also features a precision pressed in stainless pin boss for accurate alignment. Improved metallurgy, precision geometry and notch preparation result in a durable high performance part.  Now supplied with a "D" spring to retain standard grooved trigger pins.

JP Oversize Anti-Walk Pins

JP Oversize Anti-Walk Pins are the icing on the cake. Removing all the slop between the trigger, hammer, pins and the receiver results in that extra bit of refinement to get the maximum performance potential out of high grade parts. These tool steel trigger/hammer pins are available in .156 for small pin and .172 for large pin receivers and feature custom buttomhead stainless retainer screws (matte black finish) on both ends for corrosion resistance. No modification to the lower receiver is needed, but be aware that the trigger and hammer may have to be reamed for a perfect fit with these parts. The downside: installation is a bit more difficult and detail stripping the lower receiver will require a bit more care. Finish is black oxide.

JPFC-S Adjustable/Reversible Selector

The new JPFC-S adjustable/reversible selector can also be used with any after market trigger components to allow for a perfect and safe relationship between the trigger and the selector, blocking all movement in the "safe" position. It eliminates the need for "fitting the safety" in the original JPFC, JPFCP kits or other after market triggers where the selector vs. trigger relationship is not perfect. The JPFC-S is a great addition to the JPFC or JPFCP kits and will cut installation time by about 1/3 while eliminating the risk of ruining the trigger by over-fitting.
