In case you don’t recognize the name, Meopta makes most of the optical microscopes used in medical labs. So they are not a new comer to optics. The Meopta R1 is the best of the low power variables I’ve tried. As close to true one power as you can get, it just seems to “dissappear” at one power and you see only the dot floating in space in front of your eyes, just like a good dot sight. However, crank it to 4X and you can see enough to make very precise shots to 300 yards and beyond. A 300 yard hold over is pretty easy to estimate with a little experience and the K-dot reticle with the bar underneath gives a good 400 yard reference point also. The red reticle lighting is superb for daytime use unlike most other 1x4 scopes with lighting more tailored for night time usage. I highly recommend it for practical rifle or general field use on many types of rifles.
