The origin of the JP Compensator reaches back to the days of the SOF (Soldier of Fortune World Championship) series matches when match administrators decided that they had to allow compensators but wanted to place some restrictions on the size of these devices. From this came the 1"x3" rule that has carried forward for the tactical divisions in all subsequent matches. In other words, the incredible performance of our classic JP Recoil Eliminator was deliberately nullified because it didn't fit in the new allowable size of 1" OD by 3" in length. In response, we set out to develop a brand new compensator design that would become our best-selling JPTRE series.

In conjunction with top professional shooter and weapons specialist for the DOE, Bennie Cooley, we arrived at a truly high-performance, match-legal tactical rifle compensator that maximizes the potential of the size limitation while maintaining nearly the same recoil reduction and neutrality that characterized the original JP Recoil Eliminator. Just as when it was first released, the JP Compensator is the standout most efficient device of its type. Bennie was fully impressed with the new JPTRE and has endorsed it as his choice for action rifle competition ever since.

Even beyond its competition origins, the JPTRE series has grown extremely popular over the years with those shooters who prefer a slimmer, more compact configuration on their rifles for cosmetic or pragmatic reasons. So much so that we now offer a large selection of JP Compensators for various contours and caliber selections to accommodate nearly any application of both gas guns and bolt guns.

JP Large-Profile Compensators

In addition to our standard standard-profile JP Compensators, we also offer a larger 1.2" outside diameter brake that provides the same level of efficiency as the original JP Recoil Eliminator for those who demand maximum performance but still prefer the more conventional appearance of this style of compensator.

The JPTRE-5 Series compensators are available for .750, .875" and .925" barrel diameters to allow for a precise blend to the most common barrel profiles.
